About this time every year, folks fret over what to give their favorite car crazed person. Maybe you’ve gotten the usual stuff in years past and are coming up empty this season. The Racerhead Gift Guide 2021 starts here with some prime choices.
From Randy Owens
A great gift idea for your racerhead comes from the talented efforts of Randy Owens. A colorful, stylized and subtle open wheeler that has symbolized the Owens portfolio graces this tee. The design is also available in denim blue and pepper grey. All tees are 100% preshrunk cotton.
Owens also offers hats and more to match. Don’t forget to check out the selection of art on paper as well. Serigraphs, giclees, prints and posters are offered for every budget. See the whole Randy Owens collection right here.
A really, really good book
The Magnificent Machines of a Man of Mystery by Pete Lyons is an exhaustive but not exhausting look at the charismatic UOP Shadow teams. Shadow team owner Don Nichols certainly personified charismatic to a tee.
You can read my review of the book, but be assured that any enthusiast that’s fond of the Shadow teams will want this book. It’s lavishly illustrated with a great many photos from Mr. Lyons himself. I found the 464 pages of this book fascinating from start to finish. It’s one of those books that stay as part of a permanent collection. Available from Pete Lyons directly or your favorite motorsport book seller.
A McLaren F1 wheel that tells time!
Gas station and racing clocks have been around forever. This one is a little different. It’s a replica wheel from the McLaren MP4/12 driven by Ayrton Senna. There’s also one that replicates Michael Schumacher’s BBS Ferrari F1 wheel.
Also available are the Ferrari 250 Speedometer and Lamborghini Countach wheel clocks as well.
Press Monster is the website and the clocks can be found here. Certainly peruse the rest of the site for 3D racing art and automotive signage that would look great on any wall.
An IMSA Corvette GTP model at last!
Collectors of 1/43 IMSA GTP models will be glad to receive either the kit or factory-built versions of the gorgeous Corvette GTP from Marsh Models. Marsh is known for their accurate replicas and the kits are pretty straightforward for novices and seasoned builders alike. Factory built models from Marsh are known as clean, quality builds that are certain collectibles.
You’ll find both the kit and built versions from our friends at Grand Prix Models. These are re-gift proof.
