Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI short story
The must-see event for your list of essential events
The Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI took place over the Sept. 27-30 weekend. Held as it has been for the last few Reunions at Weathertech Laguna Seca, the bi-annual event was as spectacular as ever. Racer and Porschephile Jim Pugh attended and sent along some photos for our enjoyment.
Jim mentioned that the amount of great Porsches was sort of overwhelming (918s left). Great! That was the point of Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI. Maximum Porsche overload.
As usual Porsche brought along some golden oldies and some new classics. Jim tells us that the new Martini Porsche 935 (top) was blisteringly fast. Perhaps this is the prototype for a Porsche entry in the new “Hypercar” formula the FIA has proposed for the WEC.
Hyperacer describes the tribute Porsche 919 that made an appearance. The car has been shorn of all regulatory restraints for its record Spa lap and other record breaking.
The exalted Pig
Porsche brought along the class-winning Porsche 911 GTLM Pink Pig from this year’s LeMans. An immediate hit and one of the most
photographed cars at the event.
Somewhat older and still vibrant were these Porsche 356 “bathtubs” (right) during early practice.
Practice swallowed the Bob Akin Coke Porsche 935 (left), fortunately without damage. Probably needed to be thoroughly vacuumed though.
