Motorsport art by Yuriy Shevchuk
Many eras, several styles, all brilliant
It’s rare that you come across an artist whose entire portfolio of racing art is wonderful. Motorsport art by Yuriy Shevchuk fills that space for me. Forced to choose just 10 of his works to acquire, it would be pretty hard. I really like that many!
Working in a variety of mediums (watercolor, oil, acrylic), he captures the essence of a moment in a great race. Rather than trying to capture the speed and fury of a scene, Shevchuk captures the beauty of the cars and the atmosphere of the event surrounding it. The cars are the stars and everything else comes next.
While I am partial to images from LeMans, I love rally cars as well. They make great art, all crossed up and throwing mud, dust, water and snow everywhere. Night rallying brings the aura of headlights and the mystery of the dark. And then, who doesn’t love flying rally cars?
Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere
Shevchuk does a wonderful job with rallying, as he does with sports cars, formula one and street cars too. Not limiting himself to an era old or new, Shevchuk portrays all with great realism. Like many other motorsport artists, LeMans and Monaco are perfect subjects that suit his artistic sense. Both race locations are dripping with atmosphere, with iconic backgrounds readily referenced by motorsport fans.
So much to choose from!
Our gallery below is just a small portion of available motorsport art by Yuriy Shevchuk. While the cost of the originals may not fit every budget, more economical giclée reproductions are available for the vast majority of the Shevchuk portfolio.
Note that while we are discussing only his racing art, Shevchuk has a vast selection of art with an array of subjects, styles and mediums, as well as some scenic photos of Paris.
