I first met Craig and Pam Booth in the late 1980s. We were all vendors at the Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park. Their Car-toons by Booth business was young and already very popular. Racing art was a very niche thing then, yet their whimsical car caricatures were immediate breakout hits. A dedicated following came rather easily….
Perhaps you have seen Craig Booth on Wayne Carini’s Chasing Classic Cars tv show. While at Amelia Island, Wayne checked in on Craig, who was creating a sculpture for Wayne. See the gallery below for Wayne in his recently acquired vintage Indy car, Car-toons style.
Their simple and fun clay pieces speak to me. There is much fun in cars and car racing. They’ve fashioned some kart sculptures for me using example toys I provided. Smiles all around having received this pair of joyous racers having the time of their life! My wife swears that’s her whupping me on the track…..
